Post pb with opengl and macos nvidia macbook
Hello,

I have noticed that the opengl pluggin ( yorick-gl ) produces windows
which, when resized, hangs completely my macbook pro (reboot required). :(
This does not occur on linux as far as I know.

I think I reproduced more or less the problem on a mac pro and
and mac book.

Is anybody experiencing the same problem?
(which may be a video card/ yorick issue)

Cheers,

Christophe

PS: Dave, we have added a couple of functions noticably, coloured lines
in the opengl pluggin; are you interested ?

Here is a response from Steve Langer:

I made a 3D window on my Mac Pro and resized it several times without any problem. I then did the same thing on my Mac Book Pro and didn't have any problem there. I also dragged it back and forth between two monitors. Once again, no problem in either case. Both of my Macs are running OSX 10.5.

Is the error associated with complex "scenes"? I have had a few cases over the years where I tried to draw something complicated (i.e. something that produces a large display list) and the X11/OpenGL system started misbehaving.

If that is the case, one possibility is to try:

use_list3d,0;

This tells yorgl not to use OpenGL display lists. It will reduce performance, but it should use less memory on the graphics card. I very rarely run in this mode, so there might be some bugs when running in this mode.

Post macos X.5.5 opengl yorick-gl.1.1 broken on macbook pro ?
Hello again,

I now have a more serious problem with the opengl pluggin.
I seems not to load even though it does not complain. In other words
the compiled functions are not defined.

Does anyone reproduce this problem ?

Cheers

Hi all,

I have the same problem as Christophe, i.e. trouble to compile yorgl on a MacBook Pro. I cant seem to point the make to the right libraries.
So the compiled functions are absent.

Christophe, did you manage to fix this already ?

The linkage problems are Apple's fault. Forget about yorick until you are able to link ANY opengl program. I usually use gears. If you read the yorick configure script, you'll find an impressively ugly link line for some versions of macosx. It may give you hints about what you need. When you figure out what link line you need, post it back here and we can talk about it.
